Minutes….The regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Remsen Town Board was held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 and called to order by Supervisor Roger Helmer at 6:36PM at the Remsen Town Hall.

The minutes for the July 13, 2016 regular meeting were read and accepted.
Sue Martin, NOCCOG, was present to review announcements. On August 16th the Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council Meeting will be held at SUNY Oneonta. On August 17th at the Lee Town Hall an informational meeting for forest owners will be held; officials from the NYS DEC will be in attendance. On August 17th the NOCCOG Executive Board Meeting will be held at the Lee Town Hall. On August 30th there will be a workshop on Zombie Properties/Land Bank at the NYS Office Building in Utica. The 2016 Annual NOCCOG dinner and business meeting will be held September 29th at the Delta Lake Inn.
Councilman Duane Jones thanked the Board for the basket sent to his daughter Anna.
Duane Jones offered Resolution #34-16 to pay the General Fund bills in the amount of $4,842.52 on #8-16 Abstract. Seconded by Thomas Murphy. Ayes –Helmer, Jones, Hamilton, Murphy. Nays – 0.
Duane Jones offered Resolution #35-16 to pay the Highway Fund bills in the amount of $12,676.08 on #8-16 Abstract. Seconded by Donna Hamilton. Ayes –Helmer, Jones, Hamilton, Murphy. Nays – 0.
Adrian Grenier, Codes Enforcement Officer, submitted a report for the month of July. Grenier sent a letter informing the Board that owners of buildings in the Town that have been constructed without permits will need to submit engineered plans before a certificate of occupancy may be issued.
Kristy Allen, Town Clerk, submitted a report for July.
Highway Superintendent, Richard Roberts, informed the Board that the Highway Department will be finished putting up road sand, which has been screened, on August 11th. The remote door controls for the Highway Garage will be setup soon.
Supervisor Helmer has received calls regarding the amount of dust on Fairchild Road. It is a County road and has recently been swept to reduce the amount of dust which was caused by recent construction.
Jennifer Bartholomay addressed the Board regarding the “Remsen Community Page” on Facebook. The Board stated that the Town does not own or operate the Facebook Page and does not have any authority over the content that is posted there.
Patricia Hill, Historian, informed the Board that the Sheldon Family Reunion will be held at the end of August.
The 1st Annual Tom Bronson Car Show was held on August 6th. Dan Bronson has donated $379 from the “50/50” raffle to the Town of Remsen. There were more than 160 cars in attendance at the show.
Supervisor Helmer informed the Board that he attended an ADA Roads and Sidewalks Compliance class at the Utica Train Station. Helmer also stated that the NYS Tax CAP for 2017 has been set at 2%; failure to comply with the Tax CAP results in the loss of State funding for the Town.
